The bag's silhouette resembles a crescent moon, with smooth, rounded lines. This shape is also known as a hobo bag, whose original inspiration comes from theBindlebags carried by late-19th-century American migrant workers—homeless immigrants who wrapped all their belongings in a bundle, hung it on a stick, and carried it over their shoulder as they traveled along train lines in search of work.
The name "Hobo" was borrowed from literature, carrying a semi-heroic American undertone. In his 1930s Great Depression novel *Of Mice and Men*, 20th-century American writer John Steinbeck wrote: "Thousands of Americans were forced into a hobo lifestyle." The world's first hobo bag is said to have been born in 1936, retailing for just 35 cents.

Matelassécrinkled leather is one of Miu Miu's most iconic design elements, first introduced in Fall/Winter 2006. Using quilting techniques, the leather is shaped into a grain-like wrinkled texture, with padding inside to create a plush, voluminous feel.
The termMatelassémeans "quilted" in French. Miuccia Prada cleverly applied this technique, rich in history, to a range of items—from entry-level small leather goods to popular bag styles—so that anyone seeing the signature leather texture instantly recognizes it as Miu Miu, cementing a powerful brand visual identity.
AllMatelasséleather is made from soft, resilient nappa lambskin. Its pliable nature allows the elastic lining and padded interlayer to combine perfectly, remaining flawless even after quilting and stretching. The whole lambskin is precisely patterned and cut to the bag's shape, then quilted to create a warm, three-dimensional wrinkled texture.
To ensure the bag's integrity and aesthetics, the curved leather extending from the left and right sides of the Wander bag to the handle is made from a single piece—no seams. Every step, from stitching and assembly of the handle components to the final hardware, is done by hand by artisans.
