The Bolero bowling bag was unveiled at Balenciaga's Summer 26 runway show, designed by new Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli. Its form draws from the Bolero short jacket created by the house's founder, Cristóbal Balenciaga, in 1937.

Pierpaolo Piccioli, fashion designer, born 1967, nationality Italian, graduate of Sapienza University of Rome, formerly Creative Director at Valentino (2007–2024), Creative Director at Balenciaga (2025–present).

The designer translates the jacket's rounded cut into a sculptural, architectural silhouette—an elegant shell shape with arched double handles. The clean, almost minimalist tailoring highlights geometric lines, while a bold B-shaped clasp serves as a striking focal point. The wraparound zipper opens like an oyster, a biomimetic touch.

The most distinctive feature is the oval base with a zippered exterior pocket, allowing the bag to be folded flat for storage—underscoring the natural, interactive relationship between the bag and the body.

The body is crafted from cream calfskin, offering a glossy yet fine texture. Tone-on-tone stitching traces the contours, nearly invisible, for a minimalist and restrained aesthetic.

The hardware is a highlight: four 'B'-shaped emblems at the junctions of handles and body mark the debut of the new brand insignia designed by Piccioli. Made of antique gold-toned metal with a polished finish, they catch the light with a fluid, golden shimmer.

The two zipper pulls are topped with metal rings that hang naturally, adding a playful, lively touch and a subtle flourish of detail.

You'll notice the two opposing B-emblems are backed with rings, designed to attach the strap. The slim, cream calfskin strap allows for shoulder or crossbody wear, freeing your hands and adapting to a variety of looks.
