Louis Vuitton's 2026 Cruise womenswear show took "Theatre" as its theme. Artistic Director of Women's Collections Nicolas Ghesquière drew on the Gothic architecture of the Palais des Papes, its painted frescoes, and knightly attire, building fresh fashion ideas through sculptural tailoring, dreamlike jacquard prints, and sumptuous details—exploring the performative character and narrative tension of clothing.

Bags such as the Petite Malle Capitale trunk and the Speedy Trunk 20 take their cue from medieval battle armor, paired with strong, structured silhouettes and hardware—as if donning the armor of Joan of Arc.

The bag is crafted from natural calfskin, its antiqued metallic finish lending a fine pearlescent sheen—like bronze armor weathered by time. The highlight is the allover embossed "Monogram Epic" pattern, which makes the house's signature motif appear as a three-dimensional relief across the body, creating a look full of tension.

Nicolas Ghesquière chose the brand's classic Petite Malle trunk to convey the hardness of armor—the Petite Malle was launched for LV's Fall/Winter 2014 season, with a sculptural, refined box shape inspired by the brand's 1929 photography trunk.

The Petite Malle's signature elements are taken to the extreme this season—most notably the antiqued gold S-lock clasp at the center, which echoes the gold leather body like an antique treasure chest; black calfskin trim gives the bag greater dimensionality and visual layering; and the iconic metal corner guards and rivets are the finishing touch, evoking the pauldrons and rivets of armor for a sense of traveling through time.

The closure is simple and can be operated with one hand. Just push the two round studs on the clasp toward the center, and with a crisp click, the triangular metal plate springs open; once open, you'll see leather gussets on both sides that unfold to about a 45° angle, making it easy to access the contents and preventing spills.

The bag features a single, rounded yet rigid top handle wrapped in fine black calfskin, giving it a commanding presence in the hand.

It also comes with a detachable, adjustable slender calfskin strap for shoulder or crossbody wear, adding a casual, easygoing touch to this antique-like little trunk.

Open the bag to reveal a refined nude lambskin lining, accented with the classic LV Malletage diamond-quilted line print.

The Petite Malle is rigid and structured, so we don't recommend overstuffing it. We placed a phone, a notebook, a coin purse, and some small touch-up items inside—it holds more than you'd expect, easily handling important occasions or evening parties.
