· New Bags | FENDI Unveils Spring/Summer 2027 Runway Collection: Clothes as the Backdrop ·

The FENDI Spring/Summer 2027 runway show has just wrapped in Milan, and this season's collection centers on the bond between the body and clothing. Chief Creative Officer Maria Grazia Chiuri took the most intimate of garments — undergarments — as her starting point, using lace, embroidery and cut-out detailing to turn fabric into a second skin. Glossy and matte, weightless and substantial, silk and animal prints are layered and mixed, striking a deft balance between restraint and ease.

At the center of the runway stood a vast, semi-transparent mirrored cube, inspired by Italian artist Luciano Fabro's installation *Cubo di specchi* (Mirror Cube). As models moved through the mirrored box, its diffused surfaces not only refracted layer upon layer of the garments' multiple silhouettes, but also forced the audience into an unavoidable exchange of glances with one another — transforming the act of watching a show into a social ritual of gazing at oneself and encountering others, all beneath a hypnotic visual spell.

On the bag front, the house unveiled a newly designed chain-strap clutch, featuring a minimalist flap silhouette finished with a scarab-shaped clasp. The detachable jeweled chain echoes the scarab rings worn by the models, turning the bag into a wearable jewelry accessory. It comes in exotic leathers including python and lizard.

The classic Baguette line introduces an evening-bag version in lizard leather with a diamond-embellished clasp. Its compact, jewel-like proportions take on an air of elegance and luxury, set off by the exotic leather and jeweled hardware.

The Baguette® 26424 remains the headline act of the season, appearing with exotic embroidered motifs, beaded fringe, cut-out leather fretwork, animal prints, fur, metal studs and an array of other materials and decorative elements — a showcase of exquisite craftsmanship and boundless creativity.

The My Peekbaoo bag makes its appearance in leopard-print python, channeling Italian wildness and opulent glamour. Another version, in khaki crocodile leather, is flanked by extra-long leather fringe on both sides, lending the bag a sense of movement. Totes are finished with woven leather handles, or covered entirely in cut-out leather floral appliqués for a romantic, poetic feel.
