The bag made its debut at the Hermès Fall/Winter 2026 womenswear show, a collection inspired by Hecate, the Greek goddess of the underworld and witchcraft. The ready-to-wear pieces blend riding breeches, riding boots, and military jackets to conjure a bold, mysterious, forward-charging female knight.

The gold-and-silver chain on the Bolide acts like a female knight's armor, lending a rebellious touch to the minimalist silhouette, while the gold horseshoe studs subtly echo the brand's equestrian heritage.

The history of the Hermès Bolide dates back to 1923, making it the world's first handbag with a zipper closure. Originally named "le sac pour l'auto"—meaning "car bag"—because its zipper was inspired by the Ford automobile factory, it was later renamed "Bolide," which means "comet" and also pays tribute to the rapidly growing automotive industry of the time.

The bag features an architectural shell-like silhouette with a top zip closure, while its flat base and metal feet allow it to stand upright stably, with a spacious interior. Thanks to its clean lines and practical functionality, the Bolide became an ideal travel companion for adventurers as soon as it was launched.

The Bolide 1923 Mini is the latest size introduced by the brand in 2011, and the smallest member of the Bolide family. Measuring just 18×14×7cm, it is compact and lightweight whether carried by hand or worn crossbody.

The body is crafted from black Evergrain calfskin, a leather that is fine, supple, and subtly grained, developing a warm natural sheen over time. The entire bag weighs only 200 grams, feeling virtually weightless when worn.

The Clou de Forge jewelry chain is the most eye-catching decorative element on this bag, drawing on the signature horseshoe nail motif from the brand's Clou de Forge jewelry collection and continuing its equestrian-inspired imagination.

The entire chain is hand-assembled from 23 silver-plated brass links, into which artisans forge and set gold horseshoe nails, then secure it to the shoulder strap using leather braiding techniques. The gold and silver metals create a shimmering interplay, looking especially dazzling against the black background.

Despite its mini size, the Bolide offers impressive capacity, easily accommodating a standard smartphone. The flat base is set with four silver metal feet, while leather piping keeps the body structured and resistant to deformation. The zip pull also subtly incorporates an H monogram, with every detail executed to perfection.
